We just found out that our mother is adopted. Her parents are Dr. Francesco Ricci(o), a prominent gynocologist from the city of Larino and Maria Vincelli.
Maria died in July 1944 giving birth to my Mom after falling pregnant from the Doctor whom she worked for. They were not married. I believe the Dr. was married with several other children. Her half sisters and brothers traveled to my Mom's town, Bonefro, Campobasso, to meet her as a little girl-she remembers the meeting, but had no way to keep in contact with them as they were all just kids. My Mom was adopted after her adoptive mother's own infant died.
Any info on this would be helpful. Not sure why my brother and I had not been told until now. This was quite something to find out, and definitely changes the family tree!
