LOOKING FOR AN ANCESTOR

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

LOOKING FOR AN ANCESTOR

Post by lmalcewi »

My Great Uncle Foco Papaleo traveled from Genova, Italy to Argentina on the ship Valdivia. I do not know the year of travel; however, it must have been in the early 1900's. He is listed as being a bricklayer from Cotronei, Italy. I am unable to access any other information regarding him and would appreciate any information that might help lead me to more information. Thank you!

Thank you. I have already done that and am unable to find the ship's manifest for this voyage.

Have you checked the site of CEMLA?
http://www.cemla.com/busqueda.php#

this is the record I found:

PAPALEO, FOCO 40 C ALBAÑIL CATOLICA ITALIANA
ship VALDIVIA GENOVA 03/03/1927 - BUENOS AIRES COTRONEI

Looks like he arrived on 1927...

Thank you, Laura! I did see this website but didn't have a date to enter and didn't realize I could search without it! This is awesome--I appreciate it!
