family history from great grandfather

Post by osco30 »

I am searching for my great grandfathers family history from when he lived in Italy. Here is what I know his name was Nicola Rossetti and he traveled to the states in 1914 aboard the Canopic when he was 16 or 17. I am not sure if the ship went to Boston or New York. I have heard two different things from my family.

Just for reference purposes...
Is this your GGF in the 1920 Census?
Living in Boston as a boarder with the Ragucci family.
Immigration year listed as 1914.
Age 23 - which would have him about age 16/17 at immigration...

POSSIBLE manifest for Nicola Rossetti (spelled Rossetto on the manifest)

Arriving BOSTON, March 1914 on the Canopic
Age 17
Leaving father Salvatore Rossetto in Mirabella, Avellino
Going to cousin Antonio Guarino in Boston.

On the line above him is listed Concetta Rossetto, age 17, also from Mirabella, leaving in Mirabella her mother Saveria d'Ambrosio. Could be a cousin - OR - maybe a twin sister who decided to list her mother instead of her father... :-)

Line 26
