Tracing two families from Castroregio, Cosenza, Calbria

Post by SusanBurns27 »

I'm tracing the genealogy of the De Nicco (or Di Nicco) and Busicchio family. I know that Angelo De Nicco (eventually DeNick) settled in Tresckow, PA in 1913 after emigrating from Italy. I have every bit of paperwork on him that you can imagine.

My problem is finding anything about his parents. I was told that his father's name was Francesco De Nicco and that his mother was Rosa Busicchio, by the family's historian (who sadly passed recently, so I can no longer go to her with my questions). I was lead to believe Francesco and Rosa lived and died in Castroregio (never coming to the States) but I'm uncertain that's accurate - especially Francesco. I know they had at least two other children: Giovanni and sister whose name might have been named Mary. I'm uncertain about other siblings and I also don't know if those two ever left Italy. I have reason to believe Francesco had a brother named Antonio who DID emigrate to the US some time before his nephew Angelo did.

I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction of where to go from here or maybe even already has a good lead (?). I'm pretty sure I've fished Ancestry.com and the Mormons dry. Thanks for any advice you have!!

Do you have birth dates (actual or approximate) for any of the people mentioned?

My goodness this has ALOT of leads already and I've only looked at a few pages. THANK YOU!!!
As far as birthdates, the only one I know for sure is Angelo's - he was born in 1895. I can only assume the parents were born roughly twenty years earlier, give or take of course, so I have kind of wide range of dates open to investigtion. But this so exciting because it could very well be sitting right in this link you gave me. I owe you big time!!

Hello, Joannsalvo.

Found this thread using a Google Alert for Castroregio.

I've found several relevant birth registrations from these links and I've been working on translations. I've run into a word though that I can't find a translation for anywhere and I was wondering if anyone here had an idea. The word is "ulebrato" and it appears in an addendum to a birth registry about a subsequent marriage. Any ideas?

Thanks again!!

Yes, I spent my whole weekend combing over 1800 pages looking for that same document, also with no luck. I think you're right about those dates. Thanks so much for all of your help!!
