Hi, I found a ship manifest that I believed to be Anna Faiazza coming to the United States everything matches except that she indicates that she is going to visit her bridegroom Berardo DiGiacomo. Oral history suggests they were married in the US.
Is it possible that bridegroom was used to mean fiance? Or does bridegroom mean husband?
Anna Faiazza left her home of Giulianova, Province of Teramo, Italy with $25 and traveled to Naples to board the sailing ship Guiseppe Verde on 6 Dec 1919 headed on her first trip to the America. The ship manifest indicates the her native language is Italian and that she is able to read and write. Anna paid her own passage leaving her father Salazza Faiazza behind in Giulianova to join her BRIDEGROOM Beradio DiGiacomo residing at 39th Street, Washington, D.C. Guiseppe Verdi arrived at Ellis Island on Dec 24, 1919.

Re: DiGiacomo & Faiazza Marriage Meaning of Bridegroom
Could be that they had a religious marriage in Italy.
