Help please with Piacenza

Post by Grace »

I am trying to help an old lady with her family tree, her family lived in Morfasso and Gropparello, before coming to UK, I understand the family were from the south, the father was Bergonzi born 1881and mother Casali, born 1883, would like to find a marriage.
Please where can I begin.

Who was born in Morfasso or Gropparello? What were there full names? Why do you say south the name Bergonzi is from the northern area

Hi Marty,
I now understand the family all came from Piacenza, the mother came from Morfasso the family name was Casarli ( Casali), the mother Caterina, the father Girolamo Bergonzi came from Grepparello.
(I have been told the information re South was a misleading), the parents were born between 1880 to 1882, when they came to England in the 1920s there were children, and others were born later.
I have tried , with little success

Hi Grace
If you're sure that Caterina Casali was born in Morfasso about 1880-1882 you can write to the Comune and ask for her birth record
"Estratto per copia integrale dell'atto di nascita"
(but mind there was another Caterina Casali from Morfasso, married Solari, born about ten years later, going to the US in 1914)
Same for Girolamo Bergonzi in Gropparello
