Greco family

Post by rsolomito »

Hi, I am new to this site and was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have hit a wall and cannot seem to find any more information on my own.

I am researching my maternal grandmother's family. Her grandfather was Saverio Greco (b.5/9/1879 in Stornara, Foggia, Italy). He came to the US in Apr 1904 to Boston, MA to his "in-law", Giovanni Ferullo. However, he was not married at that time, so I am assuming this is someone married to a sister? It also seems as though he came over with 5 other people at the same time also claiming to be related to Giovanni Ferullo, all 5 with different surnames. Saverio then shows up in Providence, RI and marries Lucia Abruzzese in Aug 1906. Through some research I have found his parents are Vincenzo Greco and Savina Greco (maiden name unknown). I would love to find any information on this family in Italy, whether he had siblings, what his mother's maiden name was, and who Vincenzo's parents were.

I also have very little information on his wife's family or where in Italy she is from. I just know her parents names were Antonio Abruzzese and Rosa (maiden name unknown).

Thanks so much for any help! - Becky

Yes it is. So it could be that he was born in Naples and then resided in Stornara because on the passenger manifest from Ellis Island it states last place resided was Stornara.

I just wanted to thank you so much. I received Saverio's birth certificate from the Commune di Stornara. His mother's name was Maria Savina Tudisco and his father was Vincenzo Grieco. My search now continues, but unfortunately I have no date of births for either parents. Should I write to them again to try to ascertain that information? I am not sure where to go from here. I have tried searching Family Search and Ancenstry and nothing is popping up (that I can verify without d.o.b). Thanks so much again for any help! It is very much appreciated.

Unfortunately, it did not have his father's age. Just the name of father and mother, his date of birth and time of birth. Thanks for the links and I will definitely check them out today! :)
