Hi there,

I am looking for information on my grandmothers father. Her name was Marie Dolores Virzi born on April 27th 1920.

Her father is names as Charles Virzi and died in 1919. He is stated as 36 years old
her mother was Rose Gilardi and was 31 years old at time of birth.

Rose gilardi remarried shortly after the birth of my grandmother. We are unsure of her second husbands name however had a son named "Ray." with him.

Trying to find out where Charles Virzi was born. Charles is obviously not his real name. My grandmothers birth certificate say he was born in Italy but doesn't give any location. Her mother was born in Chicago.

Charles Virzi parents are said to be Alfonso Virzi (perhaps alfonso Salvatore virzi or Frank Salvatore) and mothers name is Christina Agulla.

My grandmother was cousins with Jack L Gilardi who was married to Annette Funicello and born in Chicago 1930.

Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

The death record of Charles Virzi gives DOB as 15 June 1880
However, the WWI Alien Registration Card (for which he supplied the information) identifies his DOB as 15 October 1879...

Is it possible that Charles' given name was Ignazio????

Marriage in Chicago of Rosina Gilardi and Ignazio Virzi in 1906
Year of birth for Ignazio is same as Charles - about 1880
The year of birth for Rosina agrees with age of Rose in 1910 Census.

Me and my family are so happy because now we know my great grandfathers name was Ignazio. All this time we thought we were Italian and now know were Sicilian which makes complete sense as I found many Virzi relatives went to Tunisia from Sicily before coming to the USA.

Rosina Gilardi and Charles (Ignazio) are part of who we are and it is an amazing feeling to finally see their marriage certificate. Funnily my mother and her grandfather have the same style of writing as well!

Any chance we can find anything on the gilardi family would be brill
