LABELLA Family from Sciacca

I'm trying to do some research for a friend whose family comes from Sciacca (as far as he knows). I've sent an email in Italian to the Stato Civile for the Comune of Sciacca but I haven't received any response. Does anyone have a contact in Sciacca who could help or a direct email address for someone who works at the Comune office?

Here's the family info (we're looking for birth and marriage certificates for Ignazio and Acrusia):
GGrandfather: Name Ignazio LaBella
Born1866
Parents names: Pietro LaBella (father) and Ida Anella (mother)

GGrandmother - Acrusia Gallo
Born 1878
Parents names: Filippo Gallo (father) and Rosa Basili (mother)

On what does your friend base his thoughts of a birthplace of Sciacca?

Did your friend's grandfather (not the GGF you mention above) immigrate?
What was his name, and where did he settle? Perhaps an approx. date of birth, too?

We may be able to trace back to a birthplace. It is important that we have the correct comune (town) of birth to search for the records.

While the surnames of La Bella and Gallo are common in Sciacca, I have searched quickly through some indexes for the years you state (and the surrounding years) and have not found the GGrandparents.
AND... there are some years missing...

Thanks so much for the quick response! I know that his GGF and GGM did immigrate to the USA and I believe his GF was born in the Boston area (but I'm double-checking on that part).

His family definitely lived in Sciacca, he's just not sure if they moved there or were born there. I'm following up with him to see if he has any other clues. I know that the birthplace is the key to being able to find the records (I had to do lots of scouting around to figure out where my own family came from). I'll reply again as soon as I get confirmation from him on the information above.

Is this your friend's GGF in the 1910 US Census in Boston?
Residing at 341 North St., Boston...
If so... it would appear that the first two sons (Pietro and Filippo - named after their grandfathers ) were born in Italy...

I'm impressed!
Ok, my friend confirmed that his GF is Leonard and was born in the USA. So, now back to the docs from Sciacca.... any leads in being able to find Ignazio's and Accursia's birth certificates and marriage certificate from Sciacca? When I contacted San Fele for my family's docs, they were pretty responsive. I haven't received any kind of response from Sciacca so I'm wondering if I have the correct contact information or maybe need to go about it a different way...

There are 2 possibilities: Either the death record is in error and a different child died in 1832, or the wrong birth record was used when she married. Probably she was born after 1832, but they pulled the record for her older sister. This happened a lot, but usually when the age difference was only 2 or 3 years. 6 years is a bit large. Moreover, I can't find a birth record for her after 1832.

I have some cousins who are related to Ignazio Gallo and Accursia Daina. I'll have to work on figuring out the exact connection. It seems that their grandson Ignazio may have married a Ciancimino. They're also related to Gabriele Gallo, born around 1862 and the father of Ignazio Gallo.
