Most of the Martorana's on ellis island site seem to be from Sicily. You can click on the link below to view them.

What else did you need to know? There are several listed on Ancestry in England. Would need to know more specifics before I'd post anything.

Hope this helps!

Hi there,

Did your Orazio come to the USA, if so, where did he settle? Also, did he go by another name or nickname?

On Ellis Island there were two Orizio's that came from the town of San Cataldo which is in Sicily.

Here is the information
Name, Town of Origin, Year of Arrival, Age at Arrival, Year of Birth
Martorana,Orazio - S Cataldo, Sicily - 1909 - 25 - 1884
Martorana,Orazio - S. Cataldo, Sicily - 1907 - 25 - 1882

On the 1909 manifest it lists that Orazio's mother is Anna Bruno. However, please note that you need proof to verify that it is your Orazio.

Also, if your Orazio is from San Cataldo, then the Family History Center has microfilm that you can order and rent for $5.75 a roll. Here is the link for the film numbers

Here is the link to find the nearest Family Hsitory Center

If you give us more information, we can help you better

hi again, better i put a little more info, basically my parents have never been married, my mother is german, while pregnant they ran away to rome and met one of his relatives, at the time my mother was under the legal age of conscent in germany of 21yrs and my father was picked up by the police as he had to do national service, (well this is the story i have been told) i did not find out about any of this until i was 17yrs old, over the years i have tried to get more information out of my mother with regard to my father and other then his name (orazio martorana), approx birth year is in range of (1945-1951)by my calculations as he was older then my mother but not sure how much older, and city (gela) i know nothing else, and there is no one else i can ask, so just hoping for some idea's of where or how to look into tracing him thanks to all the replies i have had and sorry if i didnt make myself clear enough to start with

You can request his birth record, and so go on to see where he lives to:

Comune
Ufficio di Stato Civile
Via Parioli
93012 Gela (CL)
Italy

anagrafe@comune.gela.cl.it

caiola.emanuele@comune.gela.cl.it

Good luck for your research
bye Riccardo

Hi Again,

As Ricbru stated, here is the address again where you can write for the Birth Act of Orazio.

Ufficio di Stato Civile
Comune di Gela
Via Parioli
93012 Gela (CL)
Italy

Here is a link that you can use to help translate your letter into Italian so that you can request the Birth Act.

Here is Pagine Bianche which is a telephone directory. There are two listings for an Orazio Martorana. Maybe one of them is your Orazio.
http://www.paginebianche.it/execute.cgi ... =&ind=&nc=

Here is a link that will help you write a letter to them.

I hope this helps,
