wedding garnet 3 strand beaded necklace

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

wedding garnet 3 strand beaded necklace

Post by Jessebelle »

My grandmother when she was married wore a garnet 3 strand beaded necklace. Other female members of her family also wore the same type necklace for their weddings. She was born in Trento, Italy in 1895 and emigrated to the USA in 1921.
<BR>Does anyone know what the necklace was called and the tradition behind it?
