Hi
I'm trying to locate the birth of my gg grandfather Nicholas Smith On his 1894 death cert. it states that he was born Italy I do not know his arrival in NZ but he married Mary Coleman in Dunedin in 1864 Taking his age away from his death age he would have been born around 1836
His father Nicholas Smith a seaman and his mother Lousia nee Jones
any body with any suggestions please where do i start to look

Dear Possum,
I suggest you to give us more details.
As you know last name Smith is not Italian, so we have not idea in what part of Italy he was from; check his naturalization record, ship manifest, marriage record, passport....maybe you find something,

Hi possum, in Italy are the Smith and Jones people, but they are descendants of foreign people.... as already ricbru say you, is necessary more details, regards, suanj

Hi all
thankyou for taking the time to reply to my query Unfortunatly the only information on Nicholas I have I included in my very first post I cant find any shipping info etc and I am at a loss just wheere or who to contact maybe there maybe someone in the U.k. I could contact. [ A shipping company??????

I did a simple search for Nicholas Smith at this site & it shows 4 results.

The LDS Church (Mormans) have many films of records for both Australia
& NZ. You may find some that help you. Here is their link...just do a "place search," then click on "title" of interest & continue.
