Would some kind person translate into Italian for me please
jcsm has suggested that I write again to the Commune in Sant'elia to request birth act and a marriage act. (I have the address)Not sure if I need to write two separate letters or include both requests at the same time?
Dear Sir/Madam
I would be very grateful if you would send me a copy of the birth act for Ciccone Benedetta born in Sant'Elia 1905/1906, mother's maiden name, Defilippis Maria Cristina , father Ciccone Antonio. (Maria Cristina was my grandfather's niece)
and a copy of the Marriage Act for Difillips Giovanni Battista and Bastianiello Francesca, married in the parish of SanBaggio, Sant'Elia Fiumerapido 1879/1881. They were my grandparents.
I am enclosing a self addressed envelope and an international reply. coupon.
Thanking you
Yours sincerely
Do you think I should enclose a copy of my grandfather's birth act where the notes of his marriage are written at the bottom?
I dont have an ID card so should I send a passport size picture of myself, signed on the back. Would this maybe help them to answer me .
I've still had no replies to all the other letters I have sent.
Be very grateful for your opinion and help
God Bless
Emmy

My opinion
May, absolutly sure (95%), the double letter are equal.
1883. The last number is too much different from first to be the same.

Many thanks Wishyou
At first I thought it was 2 eights as well but couldnt be sure, I also thought that the 3rd digit could maybe have been a 7 with the line through it then I thought the last digit was one of the fancy ways that 1 is sometimes written or it could maye be a 9. On one of my uncles birth certificates it says that my grandparents were married in 1879 but I can find no record of their marriage in the micro films I have for that period. Their fisrt son was born in July 1881 and the next son in 1883. It's unfortunate that the birth acts for those two sons are the short version and it doesnt say if the parents were married
Before I found this clearer record of the marriage I had sent off a letter today to Italy to try to get a copy of the marriage certificate, I put in two dates 1879/81
Many thanks for replying
God Bless

Thanks everyone,
If they were married in 1883 then they must have been an exception to the rule in those days.
living together and having a family and not being married They must have had a wee peep into the future and thought that was ok or else they were way ahead of their time. Terrible thing is LOVE! but where would we all be without it??
God Bless you all (and my grandparents too)
Love
Emmy

emmy,
You'd be surprised at how many people had children yet weren't married. In one other thread a poster suggested this was done to see if the woman could have children. Maybe getting married was too expensive...who knows?
Maybe suanj has an answer for this? Getting ready to go up north...talk to you all later.

Re: Would some kind person translate into Italian for me ple
some persons had some child before of marriage, in the past time as the current time.. in the past time was a rare thing, but I found some case, similar.. some time was not the love, or better, was a love's fear particular.. the man love the woman, but no want the marriage.. the woman accept, but the situation is heard when born the children, and after they must to marry.... other times they don't have the permission of relatives ( for may causes), and so, many cases ... kisses, suanj

Hi Suanj
That's very interesting, now I will just have to have patience and wait to see if the Comune in San'Elia sends the marriage document.
Will let you know whenever I get a reply.
Thanks again Suanj
