Antonio Chiosi

Over 25 million Italians have emigrated between 1861 and 1960 with a migration boom between 1871 and 1915 when over 13,5 million emigrants left the country for European and overseas destinations.

Antonio Chiosi

Post by yochana »

Another man of mystery in my line.

Antonio Chiosi
Born Oct 1886 - Jan 03 1975
I do not know birth town, but he was swiss italian

He lived in California, I assume he came in 1921 or 22, because his wife Olympia arrived in 1922 with a baby, claiming him as father. He was not traveling with them, he had come ahead of them.

I cannot find a point of entry into America. Any other info appreciated.
thanks, yochana

These three records seem to fit quite well.

With Adelia being born in Switzerland and Erma (the next child) being born in Nevada, it looks like they didn't go straight to California ...

Here's a possibility ...

Apr 30, 1921 Southampton Aquitania
0009. Chiosse, Antonio M 34y 7m M Switzerland, Swiss San Fafael, Cal.

The 1921 arrival is the second record ...

http://www.ellisisland.org/search/match ... &dwpdone=1

Post again if you need the 1930 US Federal Census page, I can download the image and create a link to it ...

The SSDI and Death Index records are simple text listings from Ancestry.com.

There are two listings for Antonio (once when he was much younger) ...

Could these be the same person?

Thanks,

Antonio on the aquatania is the one, I have his fathers name as Angelo. The other Antonio lists his dad as antonio.

I would greatly appreciate seeing the 1930 census if you could.

Thanks for your help.

Your census contribution helped... otherwise... I would have kept on looking... and looking...

Certainly didn't do this alone.

I used 2 computers to look for manifests.... only because the search results took forever to draw up... actually started looking this morning...

I had one computer looking for Olympia.... the other Adelina... and did some cleaning in between... went to the store... yadayadayada
