Surname Lacovara

Post by JessicaB »

Hey everyone, I am trying to find out any information on grandmother's grandfather and mother. There names are Peter and Francesca Lacovara. I believe they both died in Italy so I'm having a hard time finding info for her. If you have any suggestions about how to go about obtaining birth/death certificates for either of them that would be great..thanks

Hi JessicaB,

Welcome to the form.

If you can provide information on your grandmother, we maybe able to help.

Her 1srt name?
Year of birth?
Who she married? Married Italy? US?
Birth year for spouse?
Immigrated to the US? When? Where did they settle?
Childrens' names & birth years?
What documentation have you already obtained for the family? Census records? Manifests? ....etc?

The more information you can provide, the better chances that we find information on the correct family.

Looking forward to helping.

Peter and Francesca both died in italy and were born around 1873. I do not believe they ever moved to America, but their children did. Their sons name is Leonard (my great grand father) who was born in 1899 in San Mauro Forte, along with Madeline and Rocco. Leonard was married to Christina (or Faustina) Fantasia. My Grandmother's name is Rose Lacovara and she lives in Connecticut, USA.

You would need to know Peter's parents names, approx. year of birth & place of birth. Then you can contact the province archive for military records. Hopefully, by obtaining Leonard's death certificate, you will have a town location in Italy to trace the family.

Other sources for town inforamtion would be Leonard's naturalization record, his ship manifest, and his SS application.

Hope this helps some.

Jessica,

Michael from London here.....

Just came across a Lacovara Leonardo, born San Mauro Forte but died during World War I (1915-1918). He was a Caporale (Corporal) in the Italian Army.

The address for the Archivio Di Stato di Matera is
Via T. Stigliani, 25
I-75100 Matera
Italia

regards

Michael

Hi one of my ancestors was married to a Lacovarra

According to civic records she was born around 1789.

The first name is hard to read but it looks like luisa.

She was married to Vito Caresimo born in aroung 1788 and they were resident in San Mauro Forte, Italy

Check my website out for a look at the orginal scanned record at

http://www.webalice.it/caresimo/Genopro/default.htm

Click on the camera icon then on the left menu click on the link Giovanni Caresimo Birth Certificate page 1 of 2

Hello. My grandfather is Vito Labella, born March 30, 1884. His father is Gianbattista Labella, born in 1854.

My grandmother is Caterina Lacovara, born February 02, 1884. Her brother was Dr. Anthony Lacovara, an MD who practiced in Brooklyn.

All were born in San Mauro Forte.

Any information about them or the town would be greatly appreciated.

Have a great holiday season.

Regards,

Vito LaBella
