Surname of Cupo?

My grandfather and his brother were the only ones in my family who had knowledge of my family. Unfortunately they have both passed away, and taken that knowledge to the grave. I am trying to find out about my family history, and I have very little to go on. Any help would be appreciated.

My name is Alyssa Cupo,
My grandfather was Alexander Cupo
and I believe his father was Antonio.

Again, any insight would be appreciated.

Can you provide us with your grandfathers spouse name? Known children?
In which state did they settle? Year of birth? Knicknames?
Have you located a ship manifest? Any US records?
All of this will help to identify the correct family!!

My grandfather (Alexander)was married to Anne Clark
and they had three children. Alessio, Antonio, and Forrest(my dad)

Both of my grandparents had a previous marriage.

Louise (aka LuLu) died in 2006, as did Antonio (aka Junior)

My father, Forrest, died in October of 2001, and Alexander (his father) died 4 months later.

They lived in NJ, as your information provided.

Anthony born in Italy, immigration looks like 1900, putting him at about age 5, is naturalized, you will want to send for the naturalization record. Rose born in New York, both children born in New Jersey.
Anthony and Rose married at ages 29 and 21, so about 1924/1925.

Anthony born June of 1895, list town of birth in Italy, is supporting mom, dad and four children, a sister under 12 years of age.

All these records are available thru Ancestry.com, a subscription site, but may be available at your local public library for free.

Possible 1901 manifest for Antonio, will ask Suanj, Nuccia and Joyce to take a look as manifest are not my cup of tea.....

and they are Great with these.......traveling with mother and sister, going to Jersey City...but I cannot make out the fathers name!!

It looks like Alessio Lupo to me...but could it be Cupo? Heres a Alessio Cupo...same town as Antonio, birth year close to Filomena..traveling with his brother Orazio to New York.

Son of Anthony Cupo, born in Italy, is Alexander, born in New Jersey....in the census of 1930 it states that immigration for the father is about 1900.......birthdate of about 1895/1896,
was hoping to place the father with his parents......

Very few records for Alexander, given the time of his birth, abt. 1925.

Mother of Alexander is Rose Nigro, born in New York, birth abt. 1904.

I think the manifest may say Cupo......Alexander named for grandfather Alessio??.....and then again...may be wishful thinking!!

Alexander had siblings Louise, Philomena, born March 18, 1934, in Paterson, N.J, and Anthony.

I hate manifest!!

you can discover more clues and facts to further your research. It certainly helps in making sure you are tracing the right ancestors.
Birth, Marriage and death documents are a must have. Naturalization records, military records, social security applications...and so much more will help you obtain concrete facts.......
