Pettenati family
Pettenati family
I have been trying to find information about my great-grandparents, Girolamo and Maria Pettenati. I don't know they're parents names, and I don't know when they came to America, but I would like to find out. I know they were definitely here prior to 1923. Here is all the info I have:
Girolamo b. 1887 d. abt 1956
Maria b. 1896, I don't know when she died, but it was before him.
Children:
Giovanni (John)
Luisa (Louise)
Alfredo (Alfred)
Rosalinda (Rosie)
I also have their information from the 1931 & 1950 passenger lists, 1930 census, and Petitions for Naturalization.
I've noticed a lot of Pettenati's come from Solignano, but I'm not sure if that's where they are from.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Same immigration date as 1930 census,
age is close...single...
Last name is off by one letter - note the maniest

edit: correction to mother's surname
- mother Luiga Pambianchi in Varsi
- destination NY City
- joining cousin Girolamo Vettenati? at 229 E 45th St NY

Re: Pettenati family
You know something, I've looked at that 1930 census multiple times, and never noticed the year of immigration. It's a strong possibility that the 1911 manifest is him. I've tried multiple spellings, better never considered starting it with a V!

Re: Pettenati family
Hi Greg,
This could be your g-grandfather's manifest,
or it could be his cousin joining him in NY.
A census in 1920 for both of them could help.

Re: Pettenati family
I have finally discovered my great grandmothers maiden name, and that led me to find her parents names. Her maiden name was Corvi, and her parents were Giacomo and Rosolina. I believe Rosolina's maiden name is Franchi, but I am not sure. As far as the Pettenati side, it still stops at my great grandfather, but I am still continuing my research. Thanks to everyone who has helped so far!

Re: Pettenati family
Hi, I'm writing from Varsi (Italy). My mother in law says that Pettenati Girolamo was her uncle. Would it be possible to contact Mr. Greg?

Re: Pettenati family
May I suggest you obtain the book ITALIAN GENEALOGICAL RECORDS by Trafford R. Cole which will bring you up to snuff as to what Italian genealogy consists of and make it easier for you to ask the right questions to achieve your research objectives. You can either borrow the book form your local library or purchase same thru the internet. Its an easy read and wonderful illustration of documents that makes the book a great reference book which you will use over and over as you get better and better. Peter
