Desperately seeking info on my grandparents. His birthplace was Napoles, Italy 6/24/1888. she was born somewhere in Southern Italy (maybe Avellino?) on 2/18/1893. We're traveling to Southern Italy next month and would love to find out anything we can about their birthplaces, parents, etc......

According to the immigration manifest below Giovanni Comegno was from Capracotta, Italy.

I found a Caterina CHIUSANO( right spell) from S. Angelo dei Lombardi( Avellino province) emigrated in USA in the 1919, but of age 23, joining Maria Commegno aunt in Brooklyn NY

I just found your questions one year after your post, so I hope you will get my reply.

I'm quite sure your grandfather was my grandfather's son, which would make us cousins. John Comegno's father was Gaetano Commegna (also spelled Comenna, Comegna, Commego, Commenga), who was married to Maria Chiusano. They married in 1885.

I just started doing the research and would like to get their birth and marriage certificates. Please let me know if you were able to find out anything while you were in Italy doing research.
