A photo about a man

Post by codenathan »

Ho scoperto alcune cose (poche in realtà).
Grazie come sempre a tutti

Hello Andrea,

Lei può mostrare la fotografia? Il nome di persona? Invecchia e l'anno nato? Quando è venuto all'America? Da solo? Relativo o gli amici viene a in America? I genitori nomina?

To all on the forum. Andrea has a photograph and is trying to search for the relative in the photograph. The person was in PA. This is what I wrote back -

I asked if he/she could post the photograph? Persons name, age and year born. Did the person have relatives or friends they were coming to in america and did the person come by themselves. When did they come, parents names. Told Andrea that any information, even a little would help people to search. Last thing I said was I only speak a little italian but I would try.

Thanks everyone.

I understood it the other way round. Andrea has a relative and is looking for a photograph of him...

Thank you Livio. I'm sure you're probably right. Like I said, my Italian is limited so I appreciate you taking a look. Can you give a full translation of what Andrea said in the original post? That way maybe people on the site can search for information. Thanks again. By the way - feel free to correct the questions I asked Andrea.

If that person naturalized in the US, the records will include a photograph...

Hi all--I'm just a beginner in Italian--but here's my attempt at translating what Andrea says. There are a few bits that I couldn't get. Peggy M

Salve sono di nuovo io. Avrei una domanda.
Greetings again from me. I have a question.

For some months now I am on the search for my relatives.

Ho scoperto alcune cose (poche in realtà).
I have uncovered a few things (little in reality).

Vorrei trovare una sua foto.
I would like to find one (of) his photos.

[This phrase doesn’t make sense to me!]

la mia domanda è:
my question is:

Is there a document [capable of being reproduced? of which I might get a copy?] from which to find his photo although nearly 30 years have passed since his death?

He died and seems always to have lived in the state of Pennsylvania.

Grazie come sempre a tutti

The translation done by peggymckee is rather accurate. I have made some slight corrections:

Greetings again from me. I have a question.
For some months now I am on the search for this relative of mine.
I have uncovered a few things (little in reality).
I would like to find one (of) his photos. The photo cannot be found in his personal belongings because I believe he died all alone.
My question is:
Is it possible to find a document holding his photo although nearly 30 years have passed since his death?
He died and seems always to have lived in the state of Pennsylvania.

Come to think of it, if he attended high school in Pennsylvania (and if the origianl poster knows what town/city he lived in), yearbook photos would be a good possibility.

Hi, thanks for the translation. He was a WW1 soldier and he naturalized on 1920
I've asked it to the Philadelphia Archives. Here the answer:
"....
We searched the naturalization records from 1906 -1926
for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania for Giuseppe
Ercolani. His naturalization was found in the Eastern District in 1920.
To receive copies of the naturalization, please send us a check
for $10.00 made out to NATFB and they will be mailed to you.
Thank you for your request..."

Now I've asked how to send money but they didn't answer till now. This email arrived after one or two days but I'm waiting to know the payment methods from two weeks.
Is there anybody could help me? How could I send money from Italy to the Philadelphia archives?
Thanks for your help and excuse me for my english

Andrea,
This may be the document that the
Philadelphia Archives has.
It doesn't appear to match the WWI Card
that suanj found for you on your other post.

Not sure if there is more to this file.

1. My GF's naturalization papers from 1923 do not have a photo--I think this practice started later. If it were me, I would get the papers anyway.
2. To send money to Philly from Italy--use credit card.

Good luck, Peggy M

Thanks to everybody.
Credit card well I have it but they didn't answer me till now and I don't know to do...I hope they'll answer me soon.

Another question: is it possible to have a copy of his identification card? Is there an archive that has it?

Thanks again

I can't read on the first page the part about children. There are two dates but I don't understand the words wrote first. What do they mean?

Thanks

He was not married. There is nothing listed under children. I believe the words are "entered 4/29/18," "discharged 6/11/19." These must be his dates in the army. Not sure of the 6, could be a 5 or an 8. But maybe you can access the military records since you have those dates now. There might be a picture attached

Do you have census information about him?

Thanks for your help.
Yes I do, I've found census informations about 1920 and 1930.
Thanks again
