Surname SCAVAZZIN / SCAVAZZON / SCAVAZZA : are they related?

Post by mscavazz »

My surname is SCAVAZZIN, my parents come from VENETO area in Italy, provincia of Vicenza, but seems that they come from BELLUNO area (before 1860 approx.).

There are poor Scavazzin families in Italy (some in PADOVA area but do not seem to be the same family).

Some says that SCAVAZZIN etimology could come from the venitian word SCAVEZZARE (to break), in Venice we found "Scavezzeria" near Rialto, meaning Butchery.

Some others says that the root of SCAVAZZIN could be SCAVAZZA, then transformed trhu the ages into SCAVAZZIN (tiny Scavazza); SCAVEZZON (big Scavazza), etc....

Does anybody here in the forum have an opinion about this, or this kind of surname ?

Thx

An update:

it seems that ancestors come from LAMON, province of BELLUNO, but I've got no proof of it.
