Deciphering ship manifests

Can anyone help me read the information on lines 4 and 5 of this manifest? I know the name of line 5 is Maria Laurenzo and the woman on line 4 says husband someone Laurenzo. Trying to see if these Laurenzo's are connected and most likely are but also how.

Lines 6 through 11 are other children of Antonio and Basilia

Is ancestry worth paying the price for it? I know I'll likely suck it up and just do it. What's your opinion on the best family tree program as well?

The first name is Basilia. The name Checchina could be a nickname for Francesca. The other girl is Rosina (from Rosa).

What is the name of the man on line 24? Pietro....? It says his nearest relative is cousin something giuseppe? can anyone decipher this? It is in mechanicville, ny and that is where my whole family is from. I was trying to read the information for Giovanni Laurenzo on line 26 as well and the word mechanicville caught my eye. It seems convenient they were on the same ship especially when I was tyring to see if Giovannia was one of my relatives...any help deciphering these two lines?

Also line 28 says his nearest relative is the same cousin as the man in line 26. Help deciphering this information including the name as well? Thanks guys!

Ancestry is worth it if you have a lot of relatives born in the US as far back as the 1600's. The Canadian records are wonderful as are some of the International records for England, Scotland, etc. They are constantly adding info.

I have had it for over 10 years. I justify the price as it is my hobby and because I like to help other's find things. It is addictive. Don't go for a month by month subscription...more expensive and hard to get out of. Remember, they automatically renew so keep your eyes out for their reminders..might be the only chance you have to quit if you choose to.

Don't care for the newpapers...too many results that don't mean anything. Not all that effective. But the original documents are great so if you have the money, go for it.

As for programs...you can download a version of PAF from the LDS site... www.familysearch.org It is a good place to start to understand what is availble without a monetary investment. You can buy an expanded version for a little money later. Family tree maker is the most widely available, but don't care for the latest version as well as previous ones. Still, it is the one you find everywhere. I have tried the Master Genealogist and really like it. But a bit more complicated and not recommended for starting out.

Others will chime in, no doubt. Each of us has our own particular likes and dislikes. A computer program is probably more important then the subscriptions if it is a choice of what to buy now and what to get later.
