Still searching.. need help located comune of birth - Sonert

Has anyone heard of a place named Sonert? I haven't been able to come up with anything.

Quick background: I am searching for my great-great grandparents place of birth.

Cordialino Davide - born April 1857 (somewhere in italy)
Rosina Guido - born 1858 approx italy

They were married in 1884 and emmigrated to the US in 1888 with their daughter Genny. I have my great grandfather's death cert. named his parents as : Giovanni Davide and Maria Giuseppa Gosta - still no town of birth

I tracked down my great great grandfather's second wife (after Rosina) her name was Anna Miniera and she arrived in NY on 17 Jan 1917 and married Cordialino the following day 18 Jan 1917 - the ship record is showing place of birth Italy, secondary place Sonert??

I am hoping this is the same place that my great grandfather is from since they must have arranged this marriage. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could it be Sorrento (Napoli, Campania)?

Yes that is it!!! OK the manifest clearly says "Sorrento" to me, I guess whoever transcribed it had the spelling wrong. I have been searching all over Napoli - so Sorrento would be the correct general vicinity.

I am thinking that the chances of his second wife being from the same place as him is quite good, as they were married one day after her arrival. They married on 18 Jan 1917. I don't have any evidence of him having traveled back to Italy so I assume this marriage was arranged by family.

There are a few DAVIDE surname in Sorrento and Piano di Sorrento as well

Any suggestion on who/where to contact in Italy to find gg-gf's records and/or confirm that is where he was born? Born 1867 & 1858 my gg-grandparents married in 1884 in Italy - would it be reasonable to assume that they were both born in the same town?
