ti ringrazio del libro che mi hai spedito, mi hanno tradotto le parti segnate e mi ha fatto molto piacere vedere le foto di parenti di cui non sospettavo l'esistenza.

Although far from perfect, online translators such as Google's do a pretty fair job. Certainly good enough to get the jist of the text, as shown below:
dear,
