Ghiloni
Ghiloni
My great grandfather was Sabitino Ghiloni, he married an Annie Magri.
Sabitino, known as Samuel came from Lucca, Italy?
My grandmother's obit listed her as having sisters: Mrs. Mary Bounchristiani, Mrs. Jennie Cecchini and Mrs. Teresa Mazzoni; also a brother Giuseppe.
I believe Teresa's husband's name was Cesare?
I am hoping someone can help me connect the dots.

Re: Ghiloni
Thank you! I do have the 1930 Census copy for Samuel. His son Harry was my grandfather. Eugene F, was my uncle Fred. He never went by Eugene.
I am greatful for the passport info. Teresa's picture looks familiar, I'm hoping I can match with an old photo I have with no name or description.
My goal is to find accurate Birth dates and their parents names. This is a great start.

Re: Ghiloni
Your goal of birth dates and parents names can be located at the town of origin. Go to http://www.angelfire.com/ok3/pearlsofwi ... tters.html
You can find the correct address for the Ufio di Stato civile if you go to www.nonsolocap.it and type in the townname on top, xclick CERCA and when the zip code, town name, Province initials and region comes up click on town name and website for town will pop up. scroll down to municipio for the addres to send the form letter.....to the right is a www for the town's tourist info. =Peter=

Thank you! You have most helpful and I am smiling from all the new found info.
"she stated she was leaving in Italy (Lucca) her mother Filomena Margherita Exclamation"
According to my info Annie's parents were 'possibly' Anthony and Philomena Magri. This info was listed by the informant Joseph Damiani. How does this all fit together with
Can I assume Filomena and Antonio were the correct spellings of the parents names? In the USA they changed spelling to match the phonetics.

Well... no doubt these persons are your ancestors...Pink67 wrote:If the arrival manifest is correct he stated his father (Antonio?) was living in Filecchio, an Hamlet of the town of Barga
Of course their names had been "americanized" but Anthony is for Antonio and Philomena is for Filomena (possible Margherita was her middle name)...
just to do a little resume, the Magri's we found for sure were:
Teresa (married Mazzoni) born around 1860
Gioconda (married Cecchini) born around 1869
Mary (married Buoncristiani) born around 1871
Giuseppe born around 1870
Anna (married Ghiloni) born around 1882 Don't you think it's a little big the difference between her birth and the others Magri??

Re: Ghiloni
Suni, I noticed that in the 1920 census Samuel had his brother Fedele Ghiloni living with him...
I searched something about him and found out that his wife was Annunziata Magri:
This is the 1901 arrival manifest for Annunziata Ghiloni (age 26) and her child Giovanni (age 5) and Leonello (age 4).. they were coming from Barga and going to Pawtucket to reach their husband/father Fidele Ghiloni:
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0018
please note that they were travelling also with Marianna Magri (a few lines above) , single age 21, from Barga. She stated she was in the U.S before, from 1898 to 1900
I believe this girl should have been "your" Anne Ghiloni (Samuel's wife)
This is because I found a later arrival manifest (1920) for Annunziata Ghiloni (Fedele'wife), she was widow, was travelling with her daughter Nella (possible the Leonello on the 1901 arrival manifest was a female). She was coming from Barga were she was leaving her sister Gioconda Cecchini and was joining her son Giovanni in Chicago and stated she was in the U.S. before (to 1903) in Pawtucket RI:
page 1:
http://www.ellisisland.org/EIFile/popup ... &line=0005
page 2:

So, possible Annunziata was another Magris and the real name for Samuel's wife was Marianna Magri(shortened in Anne?)

I'm right!!!
From http://www.ellisisland.org/ this is a 1907 arrival manifest for Marianna Magri (age 27), travelling with her daughter Jole (age 5), from Barga (leaving there her father Antonio ) and joining her husband Gheloni Sabatini (mispelled) in Pawtucket RI (she stated she was in the U.S before, from 1900 to 1904?)... Note their names arre crossed out, so they didn't travel on that ship, there must be another subsequent arrival manifest:
