How to find map so can determine street name in census
How to find map so can determine street name in census
Does anyone have advice on how to find correct names of streets on census? I have run into several that even after blowing up image to 200% can't figure them out. These are in New York. Are there maps available on line that can help. I live in Ky. and just don't know how to figure streets. Thanks. N.

If you can't find a cross street & house address on nearby pages that you can look at on a map, try Dr Steve Morse's one step pages for census districts. The drop down lists of cities and street names is quite extensive.

Re: How to find map so can determine street name in census
I went to the Morse site. I got so confused. I am new at this and not very good on the computer. I am looking for two street names. One is 1900 Federal Census, New York, Queens, ED 638, name Louis Duro. He starts on line 10. The other is 1920 Census New york, Queens, Corona ED 1752 on Luigi Duco (Duro). He is on line 82. This is same person just spellings vary. I just can't make out spelling of streets. I have gone forward and back on the pages, trying to figure name out. I would really appreciate help. I used Ancestry to access the Census. I have to go to my Library as I do not have a subscription and they do. Thanks. N.

Here you go, best guesses, Valarie
1900: 129 Borden Ave
1920: 50 Gunther
Street name change: GUNTHER is now 41st AVE in CORONA
1900: 129 Borden Ave
1920: 50 Gunther
Street name change: GUNTHER is now 41st AVE in CORONA
