Writing to family in Italy

After writing and contacting the Conti side of my family I have now started on my Grandmother's side (Recine). I mailed two letters .Is it a good thing to keep the first one short and to the point like who I am,Grandmother,Her mother and Father,when She came and that She married my Grandfather who also was from Pofi?
