OOPS!!! Looking back at the manifest... DOB should be 1873

Thanks for catching that Jim!

So, apparently Julie's info is probably correct.
If the latter film has an index, I will at least check that for both great grandparents. Maybe my new film will arrive soon.

Did you see my above reference to the Census?

Don't feel bad. :(

I start messing up so bad sometimes that I just have to put it away because I am not able maintain my focus.
I start mixing the generations and then have to straighten them out. It gets real dicey. I'm happy to have people on the forum to straighten me out when I start losing it.
You haven't lost your touch yet.

No luck finding anything on the films I currently have.

I will look in the early 1870's when my new film order comes in.

Stay tuned.

Jim....I sent for death certificates yesterday from the state. I don't know if Ill
find any clues there. I'm going to send off a letter to Santa Maria to seek
info for a marriage certificate. Thanks for your help. Hopefully something
will turn up.

Hi Julie

Sounds like a plan. My films should be here in a week or so and I will check for those birth acts.
You should be able to look forward to some EUREKA moments very soon.

Best of luck.

Hi Julie,

I have some good news and some bad news!

My film for the civil records of 1870-1876 finally came in. I looked through the years that had indexes and found records for Rauso and Santoro. Unfortunately the indexes stopped at 1872. The rest of the years had no index.
I did not try to look at every record where indexes did not exist. I will have to study this whole film eventually and I will try to look for your records.

The indexes indicated the following records were available:

1870 Morti
Domenico Rauso
Lucia Santoro

1871 Nati
Gaetano Rauso
Michele Rauso
Carmine Rauso
Marianna Santoro

1871 Morti
Luigi Santoro
Francesco Santoro
Francesco Santoro
Maria Santoro

1872 Nati
Alessandro Santoro
Francesco Santoro
Michele Santoro
Luigi Santoro
Rosa Santoro
Pasquale Santoro

I have not viewed or scanned these records, so I do not know about any relationships as yet.

Hi there Jim....I just got a call today from the Family Search office here
in Pittsburgh. I had ordered 4 files; 2 came in and 2 are on back-order.
I work during the week so the earliest I get there will be Saturday morning.
Thank you so much for your help. I will let you know hopefully what I
uncover.

Jim....It's EUREKA! I found their marriage license for Jan, 1903; Guiseppe and Teresa arrived in NY May, 1903. I'm in the process of translating with the help of Google. Gaetano is on the certificate as a witness; it's difficult
making some of this out. I didn't get through the second file, I wanted to
get info from the marriage certificate, then go back for more. Any tips?

Congratulations, Julie. :) You are on your way.

If you need assistance to translate the record, upload it to imageshack.com, click on direct link, then copy and paste it to the forum. It should have some valuable info.

I now have the 1870-1876 film and if it looks like there may be important documents on it, I will scan them and send them to you.

That is a great link to the past and should get you much further.
