This is my great great grandmother married to Giuseppe Saverio Ponessa.
She is from Catanzaro and married my great great grandfather in Sorbo San Basile. She was born in 1848.
We cannot find any other background on her and are not sure if this is her correct last name. Is Martillo a name from the Catanzaro area?

Martillo is not currently found in modern day Italy...
And there are no listings for Martillo in the Italian Phone Book.. There is one listing for Mirtillo in Soverato, Catanzaro.

I have found a ship manifest for a Giuseppe Ponessa, from Sorbo S. Basile, Catanzaro, arriving NY in 1910, age 24 , leaving wife Angela Bruna in Sorbo.
Could this be a relative?
