Beginner who needs advice/help

Post by Bluesdiva76 »

I am helping a friend trace his family history, and have now come to the part where I need documents from Italy. We know the names of his great grandparents, the day they were born and the town they were born in Italy (Ariano in the Campania section). I have found nothing on Ancestry or Family Search to confirm their birth or marriage information.

What is my next step? Should I try microfilm from the town from Family Search or do I need to write some place in Italy? What do I request? Where do I send the request?

Thank you for any suggestions.

Welcome to the forum! :-)

If you decide to write directly to the comune, you should write your request in Italian.
Be sure to provide all the information you can.

Here is some help with letters requesting vital documents...
