I am looking for ancestors of Maria Santo Mistrella (married name) from Marianopoli, Sicily. She had a daughter, Josaphine born Dec 19 1885.

Yes, I think this is what I am looking for. I did have the name of Michael as husband of Marie Santa.

According to my husband's aunt, (one of Giuseppa's children by second marriage) Michelangelo died young by drowing-Guiseppa was only about 8 months old.

I looked on the death index for the death record of Michelangelo didnt see it
Caltanissetta > Marianopoli > Indice Annuale Morti > 1885 on ancestry.com they have alot of records of Marianopoli with a subscription

Michelangelo Mistretta(son of Onofrio Mistretta and Giuseppa Giambra) 29 old was buried in Gibraltar;

Michelangelo on 17 March 1891 was on Utopia ship;
this ship -in the Gibraltar port- into collision with Anson ship;
Michelangelo body was found near the Utopia sunk;
on 20 March 1891 Michelangelo was buried, and by Gibraltar catholic church and Italy Consulate the death act was sent in Marianopoli, transcribed on 12 sept 1891 in the death registry;
