Cemetery in San Tommaso, Caramanico

Post by dinoconte »

My ancestors are buried in San Tommaso cemetery. From my great, great, great, great grandfather in 1750 to my father in 1933 were all born in San Tommaso. I live in Australia so does any body know how I could get photos of my ancestors headstones ? This is not easy because of the language barrier and the fact I don't know anyone living in San Tommaso. Any ideas please ??

San Tommaso is a very tiny remote village; do you think exhumation of grave sites would be carried out there ? It has a very small population so does any one know if the headstones are untouched ?

There's something more you should know. In Italy, till about the midth of 19th century, dead were buried in churches (expecially in central and southern areas), so for most of them there are no headstones.

I am sure San Tommaso has a mausoleum in its cemetery. Wouldn't that remain in its original state ? Does any one know the lay out & size of this cemetery ?

I don't know if this will help or not, since San Tommaso is a frazione of the town of Caramanico:

Ufficio Servizio Cimiteriale
Area Amministrativa
Servizi dell´ufficio
Concessioni cimiteriali (redazione contratti, tenuta registri e pianta del cimitero comunale)
