Twilla surname

Post by nlbrown918 »

I have found Antimo Twilla, dob 1866 on Passenger List for ship Britannia departing Naples, Italy arriving New York, USA 7 Nov 1883. Is Twilla an Italian surname? It is an unique name in USA and I have been unable to trace it's origin. It is my mother's family name. All Twillas in the USA appear to be related. I can only trace origin to William Franklin Twilla b 1805 North Carolina, USA d 1870 Tennessee, USA. Cannot locate Antimo Twilla on any US census. Would appreciate any help on surname that you can give.

Welcome to IG website
I believe that Antimo Twilla, dob 1866 on passenger list on ancestry.com is a typo for Antonio Failla
