Looking for Meli surnames Caccamo, Sicily

Hi, I am looking for informaiton anout the Meli's in Caccamo, Sicily. My Great Great Grandparents were born there. They came to America in 1904 and settled in Jefferson County, Texas. They americanized names are Joseph and Josephine Malley. I am assuming Italian names are Guiseppe Meli. Guseppia (female version?) was an Ippilita(o). If anyone can help, I would appreciate it! Thanks!

Hi Jennifer, as you say in another posting, your ancestor are as Joe Male in 1910 census, born in 1883 and emigrated in 1904, so around 21 old, and in 1910 was already married at Josephine( Giuseppina) and are Samuel son,... also i read( hoping well) that was married from 7 years, so in 1903, and this means that when emigrated was already married ...:

Hi: about "Ippolito" surname of Giuseppina wife(Josephine) in 1910 census are an Ippolito family neighbors... I cannot read the first name of head, but I think that is very possible that was an relative of Josephine...
also was residents in Beaumont other Ippolitos:

Also, if you look at the census, it's the same family. I just think they (the transcriber and/of census taker) made a mistake with the age.

I realize that this thread is 7 years old at this point, but I've just stumbled across it and wonder if anyone ever looks it over from time to time. My name is Dana Betsill, maiden name Held, and my paternal grandmother was Josephine Marie Meli, daughter to Joseph and Joephine Meli from Caccamo Sicily. I know virtually nothing about her family other than coming from Sicily on a boat that came into port at New Orleans on Valentines day and then heading to Texas before moving up north. Could we be related? Have you learned anything new?

Are the Meli and Malley families related, or is it just a coincidence that the surnames are similar? My mom is of Italian descent (possibly from the Meli family).
