I just had a question about how the census works, because in the 1930 census the second child, Anna did not show up. When you get married does that mean you no longer show up in the census with your immediate family? Because I think Anna was married in 1930. Also is it possible to get a hold of any census between the years 1912-1923? I believe that there was a girl names Maria who died in 1923 but I wanted to be sure.
Thanks

If she was no longer living at that particular address, her name will not show up...

She will now show up at her new address under her married surname... where ever that may be...

Had she stayed with her family in that home, her name would have showed up with everyone else.

US Federal Census reports are generally taken every 10 years, with a few exceptions like the 1925 census, or of a particular area or town. Hence 1900, 1910, 1920, etc. The 1940 Federal Census is due to come out in 2010. Federal guidelines are that Census reports be made public every 70 years. There reasoning is to protect those who are still living from anyone attempting to obtain their identity

[quote="mfjp"]No... it would only show "Italy" on a census record :(

but....

Here’s a manifest of interest... :!:

I haven't researched this manifest enough to confirm whether he is yours...

So far this is the closest surname I could find... Mario would be joining his brother-in-law Ferdinando Russo... in N.Y.

This manifest does match up a lot. I think the age he came over is only off by one, bit that could be right too. The only thing is I don't think he was married yet when he came over. According to the 1930 census he was married at the age of 29... but yet there is a story that my great-Aunt told me about how she heard that he was married and had a family that he left behind in Italy. He then came to America and started another family. I don't know if that is even possible, but strangely enough it is all lining up.
Yes, I figured that he married the following year (1907)... I did notice that on the manifest there was a ditto "" "" mark for "married" left by the record keeper... and that is why I was unsure as to whether he is your ancestor.

Yes that is possibe... him starting a new family here...

Also... check out this web site

http://www.familysearch.org/

Just put in the surname only... and you will see some Ingordo's here... but from a different century all together...

I would like to see if Annunziato or Mario had any brothers or sisters, because we do not know anything about that. Apparently MArio did though if he had a brother-in-law. I would like to know if any of their siblings also came to America. Where would I start with this?

VJ-
Where did you find the above information? And on the form where it says Date of admission, that means they want the date they came to America?
Thanks again

By talking to my grandmother I was able to find out that Mario Ingordo lived at 229 Navy Street in Brooklyn when he came to America. Annunziata lived around the corner at Ashland Place and this might be how they met. He came from Afragola, Naples.

Nina,
Here is the website
http://www.italiangen.org/
Go to the 'databases' on the left
You can find & print the record I listed
Not sure of which date they're requesting
- I sent a copy of the page from this site along with the form (for each person I was looking for) when I sent mine in a few weeks ago.
I also sent a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Last time I did this it took about 4 weeks.
OK? Valarie

I realize this is a very old post, but I have info on the Ingordo family and Annunziata Vuolo Ingordo's family.

She had 3 brothers. I have info on her folks as well.

Mario & Anna/Nancy (as she was known as) did have 11 kids. Their youngest, Saverio (Jerry) was father to my husband's cousin's wife.

Jerry was married to Elsa Russo. They had 3 kids. Elsa just died from COVID-19. She was 91.5yrs old. Let me know if you still need info on the Vuolo or Ingordo lines.

I have a picture of Mario in the saloon that he owned/ran for many years.

Hi Linda - I’d love any information you have! (I too realize this thread is pretty old, but I’m doing graduate school research on Ashland Place in Brooklyn, and the Ingordos have kept coming up in the documents I find.) Feel free to post a reply here or message me directly.
Thank you!
