Check the spelling. In the record I'm reading Mazzillo.

on a tree i was looking at on ancestry - they had a january birthdate - yet i could clearly see december

Your are welcome. Yes, clearly December. (There seems to be a lot of error on some trees. I believe it is more thorough to do your own research using the bmd's that are available to us.)
