Looking for Birth Record from Vicari, Italy

Post by London82 »

I was given this picture from my family in Vicari but they didn't know much about the man in the pic other than he was family.

I would like to find his birth record and find out his mother and father's names.

Thank you,
Stephanie

Can you find out who Giuseppe Agozzino's (married to Antonina Levatino) mother and father's names? Because I don't see how Pietro fits in my family tree yet..

From the marriage (1870) of Giuseppe Agozzino and Antonina Levatino posted above...
Giuseppe was the 30yo son of deceased (both) Simone [Agozzino] and Marianna Cavarretta
Antonina was 18yo the daughter of Salvatore [Levatino] and of deceased Laura Sciurba...

Here is the death act of Simone Agozzino in 1864 (father of Giuseppe Agozzino/grandfather of Pietro Agozzino)
#107 - dated 12 November 1864
Simone Agozzino died on the 12th at 5 PM at his home. He was the husband of Marianna Cavvarretta. He was 50 years of age, born in Vicari, a farmer; son of deceased Giuseppe and of deceased Antonia Nicosia

Oh perfect I see where he fits now! The Italian Genealogist I
hired years ago provided me with this record that she wrote states that Simone Agozzino's mother's name was Antonia Calandra.
Can someone provide some insight as to which last name is correct Antonia Calandra or Nicosia?

This will need to be investigated. The marriage notification record you provided has Simone's mother as Antonina Calandra. The death act (which is not as reliable) lists his mother as Antonia Nicosia.

Obtaining Simone Agozzino's birth act (about 1814-5) should clear up the discrepancy.
In my opinion, the marriage notification record is correct. The groom would have presented his birth act to the official...it would have provided his mother's name.

I will look in the Vicari 1838 marriage allegati next time I go to Family History Library since the Vicari birth records only go back to 1820 to see if we can find Simone birth act extract
