Churches in Colobraro
How can one determine how long a Catholic church has been in existence in Colobraro, Italy? Do the churches have records or are most/all in the possession of the city? Thanks.

Re: Churches in Colobraro
there is no phone listing for a church in colobraro. there are 40 listings for churches in the province of matera.
the CATHOLIC church has records but in most cases (not all) they are slow in replying.
records are kept in the town od birth.

Hello,
this is the only parish in Colobraro
Parrocchia S. Nicola di Bari
Piazza Elena, 75021, Colobraro, (MT)
Italy
The church records should start from 1545 and after 1811 you also can find civil records kept by the municipality.
Here there are the microfilm to FHL (mormons)

I hope it helps
bye Riccardo

Re: Churches in Colobraro
Thanks to you both. That will help considerably. We are planning a trip to the area in mid-June. I'm hoping I'll be able to gather a little information while I'm there.
