Birth Certificate Questions
Is the father typically the person listed as "comparso" on bc's? Why is that field sometimes a completely different name and that father is listed with the mother? Please see attachement.

Oftentimes the presenter, if not the father, is the midwife who assisted with the birth, or a member of the family. In those cases the reasons could include: father is working away from the town, the father is ill, the father has emigrated, or the father is deceased, etc.
I cannot see the entire record that you posted, but it would appear that Luigi Moriconi, age 66, is a possible relative of the father, Pietro Moriconi. Usually the reason for a declarant other than the father is offered in the written paragraph at the end of the birth act.
