Need help translating Great Grandfather's Birth Certificate

Post by ralph.pica »

Hi all,

Could someone assist me in translating my Great Grandfather's birth certificate? The cursive is super difficult to read and I need to make a certified English translation to use in order to correct mistakes made on his death certificate.

Thank you!

High level:

Alfonso Pica born August 13th, 1897 to Francesco Pica and Giovanna Corbisieri in Gragnano.

Alfonso Pica was born on 10 August. The presentation of the child was on the 13th - the date of the record.

Act of Birth #387
Alfonso Pica
The year 1897, day 13 of August at 10:16 AM at the town office.
Before me, Commendatore Vincenzo Lombardi, Mayor and Official of the Civil State of the town of Gragnano, appeared Francesco Pica, son of deceased Giuseppe, of age 42, macaroni maker (maccaronaio), residing in Gragnano, to declare that at 8:07 PM on the 10th of the current month, at the house in Via Triviancello(?) [no number], to Giovanna Corbisieri, daughter of deceased Paolo, his wife, weaver, residing with him, was born a male child who was presented to me [the official] and to whom was given the name ALFONSO.
At the above and this act were present as witnesses Mattia Serrapica, 26, macaroni maker; and Francesco Vitaglione, 44, macaroni maker, both residing in this town. I read the present act to all the participants and only I signed as the others declared they did not know how to write.
