Re: Passenger Arrival
Hi Suanj: Yes this is my grandfather. I have checked the 1930 census and some things seem to agree. I have not been able to check out the Morman film since I had an accident and have not been able to get out. However, I will do this as soon as I can. Thank you Suanj, Peter, and Sherry. I will let yo...

Re: Passenger Arrival
Dear Suanj and Peter: The two of you are so wonderful for all the effort you are putting in to help me. The information I provided was from a copy of Pietro's naturalization papers. I can only assume the data are correct. I know Grandpa spoke of being detained at Ellis Island so I'm assuming the por...

Re: Passenger Arrival
I have heard that some manifests were lost due to a fire at Ellis Island and that other manifests were never turned over to the authorities. I also understand that other people are experiencing the same problem locating passenger information on their ancesters. I'm guessing my grandfather's informat...

Re: Passenger Arrival
Hi Suanj: My grandfather did have an uncle Guiseppe whom I know nothing about. Perhaps this Carmine was my grandfather's cousin. My great-grandfather's name was Pellegrino. I looked at the manifest but could not understand the handwriting. He said he came to visit his cousin? Pietro, no last name, a...

Re: Passenger Arrival
Thanks for your trouble Peter but this is not my grandfather. This man was 28 years old, married, and came from Pontelandolfo. My grandfather was 15 years old, single, and came from Morcone.
Know anything about a ship Princess Louise?
Thanks again!

Re: Passenger Arrival
Peter and Suanj Thanks for the quick response. Peter, you are right. My mother tells of his being detained due to his claiming he had no money. He was advised by family to say this until a kind older gentleman told him to claim accurately the money he had with him. I think he was detained 2-3 days. ...

Passenger Arrival
In searching for passenger arrival information of my grandfather, neither Ellis Island.com or NAR have any record of his arrival. However, I have his naturalization papers which indicate he arrived in New York on the ship Princess Louise. I have heard of a ship Princess Irene but not of Princess Lou...
