Re: D'Onofrio or Denefrio from Dragoni?
I found out today that on the 1920 census under naturalization it has 1907 and then AL. 1907 only means the year they came here. AL is for alien. So now I am back to searching for naturalization records from 1939 in Schenectady. At least I am narrowing it down

Re: D'Onofrio or Denefrio from Dragoni?
I also have another question. Sorry but I seem full of them :) I have been trying to make sense of the markings on Ferdinando's manifest from 1907. They are above his name and read 2-62948 4/6/39 (505). Now from what I have researched they mean that form 505 was used. The 2 is for the district ...

My grandmother just told me that my Great Grandfather served in the Italian Army before coming to America. I thought I was getting close as to the town he ...

Re: D'Onofrio or Denefrio from Dragoni?
Thanks everyone for all the help.
I just tried doing some searching for marriage records but had no luck. I know they had to marry between 1905-1907 but I am guessing it would be in Dragoni or Alvignano. Anyone have any good search sites for marriage records other than familysearch.org? I have ...

Re: D'Onofrio or Denefrio from Dragoni?
Thanks so much Dragoni. I am almost positive now that they did come from Dragoni or Alvignano. The different spellings I have found are D'Onofrio, D'Anfrio, Denntvis and Denotti. I have also found relatives with the name of Corniello who evidently came from Alvignano.

Re: Ships Manifest
Biff...thanks again for the help.
I do know that Fernando and Giovanna's parents never travelled to the states. My grandmother said that the last trip they or he made to Italy was to see Fred's parents because they knew it would be the last trip and his parents were not doing well. It is possible ...

Re: Ships Manifest
Yes that is their family. I found the first census record but not that 2nd one. I guess I wasnt looking for a name in Schenectady other than Denefrio. Denefrio is my maiden name. Patsy was my grandfather. I do know that they had a daughter before Michael but she died very young. Michael also ...

Re: Ships Manifest
Ugh...another spelling. Thanks for looking that up for me. You have obviously been doing this much longer than I have! I feel like I am running in circles. So now I have Denefrio (I know this isnt correct), D'Onofrio, and D Anfrio. I dont think I have ever seen the name D Anfrio anywhere. Any ideas ...

Re: Ships Manifest
You are awesome! I just looked at the 1907 manifest again and what I thought was 2/06 looks more like 2/04. I will check on that. I did just speak with my grandmother and although she was not directly related she does remember both my great grandmother and grandfather. I now know that the name that ...

Ships Manifest
I was just wondering if this is common or if anyone can explain a couple of things to me. I pulled up the ships manifest for my gg father on ellisisland.org. It shows that he left Naples on Feb. 27th, 1906 on a ship named Germania. I pulled up the same ship and arrival date on ancestory.com and the ...
