Re: Clarification for obtaining citizenship via GGF-GF-M-me!
I dont live in New York so i do not have first hand experience. But based on many threads in this forum there should be no problem with the Henrico/Enrico situation. However some anglicized names may have to be amended.

Re: Clarification for obtaining citizenship via GGF-GF-M-me!
"Reason: A non-Italian female ancestor could have been previously married and have children from a former spouse who would not be entitled to Italian citizenship."
Sorry I'm beating the bush here, but won't the next ancestor's birth certificate have the names of the father and mother on it anyways?

Discrepancy in Ancestor's Marriage and Birth Certificates
Long story short.
The birth certificate from Italy says my ancestor was born in 1852.
The marriage certificate from Uruguay says he was 28 at the time he was married. He was married in 1884. 1884 - 28 = 1856. The marriage certificate never explicitly says my ancestor's date of birth however.

Re: Clarification for obtaining citizenship via GGF-GF-M-me!
I actually have the same question too. There is something that I do not seem to understand. According to the websites of many Italian consulates, the spouses' birth certificates are all required. However I hear all the time that people are able to get away with not showing non-direct line documents ...

Not sure what to do with this comune response
Good evening everyone!
After much research I think I was finally able to track down my GGF's birth certificate.
This is the letter that I sent to the Comune di Forino (Province of Avellino)
They replied on the same page, with a handwritten message at the bottom of the same page.

Re: Quick Question about Required Documents.
Hi Johnny!
The answer to your question is yes; my mother was born after Jan 1 1948. I have heard rumours in the past about a few discrepancies from consulate to consulate, which now appears to be true.
I did look up some Houston consulate experiences here on the website and it proved to be quite ...

I've looked into the liste di leva method to find the exact town of origin. But one thing I dont understand is this:
According to the archivo di stato di napoli,
- liste di leva dei Comuni di Napoli e provincia dal 1842 al 1930 con molte lacune. Per la ricerca nominativa occorre indicare il luogo ...

Re: Searching for Michele Zirollo
I do have a quick question though. Will the ship manifest tell me his place of birth or the name of his parents or siblings?
And where would I find the passenger lists from the Port of Naples or Port of Montevideo?
I did find this, but I'm not sure if its history or actual passenger lists
