P.S. Finding our surname
Thanks to the Internet, we found another village in Italy with a name that might match "New Chato." It certainly is in the correct area of Italy, San Martino di Noceto, Rapallo GE. It's situated a bit north west of Portofino. Too bad we didn't know about it when we were driving to Genoa in 1993 ...
