Re: Considering submitting DNA
When you do the test through ancestry.com it shows you if you have any matches in your family tree to someone your DNA has matched with. So they had my great grandfathers sister in their tree, and had my grandfather but with incorrect spelling of his name (which is what was on his death certificate ...

Re: Considering submitting DNA
I have recently received the results of my ancestry.com DNA test, which says I am 69% southern Italian, pinpointing Sicily, even though all the ancestors I have traced back to the 1700's are from Calabria, 14% Causasas and 13% Middle East.
But more interestingly I have discovered 2x 2nd cousins ...

Re: Monterosso and Puccini Families of Sinopoli Reggio Calabria
Hi all,
It's been a long time since my last post. But I have had another breakthrough. I have recently done an ancestry.com dna test. I thought it would just show where my family originate from (which it's stating 69% Sicily, not Calabria which I have traced back to the 1700's for both sides of my ...

Re: Monterosso and Puccini Families of Sinopoli Reggio Calab
Hi all,
It's been a while since I posted. I did eventually find my great grandfather Cosmo Monterosso's Birth record. He was born in San Procopio in 1878, which is close to where I was searching in Sinopoli and Sant' Eufemia. I don't know what happened to Cosmo's siblings, whether they stayed in ...

Re: Monterosso and Puccini Families of Sinopoli Reggio Calab
Hi all,
I received a letter today from the Italian military in response to a letter I sent asking for my grandfather Saverio Monterosso's POW record. But it didn't have much information regarding where he was held in the USA, but rather more info on how much they were paid during the war (which was ...

Thanks. I have requested a login. Will await a reply. I think I have found most of the Monterosso family. I have gotten a bit stuck with the Tripodi, Carbone and Gioffre surnames. Look forward to looking at your research.

I think as long as you have a login, you can view them. I' ve saved some, but not sure if the images will still be visible once the free period is over.

searching for baptism record from san giorgio la molara
Hi,
I am just wondering if anyone can tell me where I should enquire for a baptism record from a church in San Giorgio La Molara. The church is San Luca which I don't think it exists anymore. We have someone in Italy to go and get a copy of the record but not sure if they should go to the town ...
