Re: birth discrepancy
Carmine, About the UCIS; I ordered my grandfather's from them, it only cost $20.00, it took about three months, because I gave them the serial number and they sent me two copies. I imagine without the serial number a search would take much longer.

Re: birth discrepancy
Carmine, You're like Peter Falk in "Columbo" and like Basil Rathbone in "Sherlock Holmes" - I checked the Social Security Death Index, her married name was Theresa Leo, it shows her birth date as May 10th 1902, on her tombstone it reads May 10th "1903" which is probably why I could not retrieve her ...

Re: birth discrepancy
There is a place nearby me for the microfilm, I'll let you know what happens. On another note: I don't want to come off as being prejudice, but in my life experiences; Italians on the east coast are more engaging, more helpful and more personable than the Italians here in Shytown. In Chicago, it's ...

Re: birth discrepancy
In 2009 I paid a company to retrieve the record for me in Cirigliano, they came up empty. Is there a micro-film for the entire region of Basilicata?

Re: Name discrepancy...
Sorry Carmine, I have too many "irons in the fire" literally; I am refinishing the kitchen cabinets, updating a bathroom, welding a wrought iron fence, making a floating deck on the patio and cooking a lot for my sister who is visiting from out-of-town and doing detective work on this dual ...

Re: Name discrepancy...
I erred. I meant to say my paternal grandmother's birth certificate, the woman that married my grandfather. I am applying through my paternal grandfather, he became a U.S. citizen in 1934, my father was born in 1924. Would my paternal grandmother not be considered a direct line in this? I do have my ...

According to the Chicago Italian Consulate website, it states that:
. . . it is possible to request Italian Citizenship if: A) the Italian ancestor was alive on March 17, 1861 and maintained the Italian Citizenship within June 30, 1912.
My grandfather was born in 1897 and was an Italian Citizen ...

If one or some of the veterans could give me advice, I would greatly appreciate it. I am in the process of Jus Sanguinis from my paternal grandfather, I have all of the documents needed except for my grandmother's birth certificate. There is a discrepancy with her place of birth; on my dad's Delayed ...
