That's a possibility. He was listed as a butcher but the census showed him to be a day laborer. I will check some more. thanks again.

I was wondering about that also. I believe you are right because Camilla was my grandmother. I am trying to figure out where they came from in Italy. The 1930 census shows Camilla Catelli living in Los Angeles but I do not belong and could not bring it up. I figured Amerigo passed away between 1920 ...

I used My Italian Family and sent for both my grandfather and grandmother's birth certificates. I received them both in about 3 weeks time. Both were from Balestrate. Balestrate has a website where you can contact them. It has both addresses and phone numbers.

I obtained my passport last week in San Francisco. You do not need your italian birth certificate from the comune. I brought my application form with two passport photos and I also brought the recognition document but that was not needed as they have your file. I also brought $115.20 for the fees ...

I had postage from USPS for international mail. I didn't know the euro value. I had an idea is was 15 euros from other posts on this site. I sent 20 euro and they returned it. I had the euros from a recent trip to Europe.
