Re: Cascarino/lanni

Hi,

email me on mazzawashington@gmail.com

I do have some photos but my family tree is on Ancestry.co.uk. I have found some more info on Tomasso and Francesca and some other children born to them. I would be interested to see if you have different information.

Re: Cascarino/lanni

The only answer I can give you is that I don't know. My Lanni relatives originated in Cassino. The spelling of Lannie is used by our relatives in Worcester, which is where they settled. My great uncle Francesco added the e on the end of the name, because the customers kept mispronouncing the name ...

Re: Cascarino/lanni

We have cancer in our family too, I hate to say. I have had breast cancer but I have been cancer free for five years now. My sister, Sylvia, died in 1977 of cancer of the cervix. Three of my nieces have had treatment for pre cancerous cells on the cervix. Just to add to it my Granddad Cascarina died ...

Re: Cascarino/lanni

I live in Brighton, England but I was brought up in Rednal, Birmingham. That is on the outskirts of Birmingham, near to the Worcestershire border. My mother was Petronilla's niece. Unfortunately my mother died in 1994. Her maiden name was Lena Cascarina. She had two sisters, Frances and Clementina ...

Re: Cascarino/lanni

Thanks for your reply. That will make you my second cousin then. We have traced some of our other second cousins (and met up with them). Two still live in Worcester (Frank and Josephine) and one lives near York. The latter was the granddaughter of Antonio Lanni, one of Petronilla's brothers. I did ...

Re: Cascarina?

My Grandfather came to England in the late 1890's. His name was Gaetano Cascarino (the family always pronounced it Cascarina). He eventually settled in Worcester and sold ice cream.

Re: Cascarino/lanni

Thanks. Well it looks like the Lanni's were well in with the Melaragni's. Tommaso seems to have impregnated two, unless Francesca used a different name.

This information is really helpful.

Re: Cascarino/lanni

I wish I knew Stuart. I only know the descendants of my great grandparents and I only recently discovered that I had another great uncle Antonio Lanni.
I don't know if my great grandfather had any siblings.

Re: Cascarino/lanni

The only thing I know about him is that he played accordian and was in Jimmy Shand's band. I was made to listen to the show on the radio as a nipper. I have no knowledge of who his family were. He lived in Scotland. I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful.

Re: Cascarino/lanni

How strange Steve. Up until July 2003 I was working in Bournville Lane police station (close to Selly Oak) and I was not aware there was a Lanni so close by.

It doesn't surprise me that the Lanni's AND the Cascarino's were working in Scotland. Our Italian ancesters were certainly nomadic ...

Re: Cascarino/lanni

Steve, I am in contact with the Granddaughter of one of my Lanni great uncles and I was in contact with Mary Flynn, who is the granddaughter of Francesco Lanni/Lannie but, unfortunately, she passed away a few months ago.

I have not heard the name Maria Carmine Lanni mentioned but I expect that most ...

Re: Cascarino/lanni

Stuart, You and I have been in contact before a few years back. Thanks for your tips. I was the one who told you my mother had a cousin called Nick Capaldi in Jimmy Shand's band.
Steve, I would expect the Birmingham Lanni's to be related somehow. Is Lanni a common name?

Cascarino/lanni

I am trying to trace more information on my Italian ancestors. The Lanni's came from Cassino and settled in Worcester UKand sold ice cream. My grand father Gaetano Cascarino (pronounced Cascarina) came from Naples and also sold ice cream in Worcester, after marrying in to the Lanni family. I know my ...
