Re: Baglio Family from Corleone

There is a Domenico Baglio who was born abt 1863 and who arrived in New Orleans 13 Oct 1889. He also left from Palermo which is where a lot of my Corleone ancestors left from for America. I don't know if this has anything to do with your search, but the birth date is around the same time. I also don ...

Corigliano in Calabria

In my family tree there are a number of Corigliano ancestors who list their place of birth as S Mauro Marich. I have looked for this town in Italy, but have not been successful in finding it. Most of the rest of this side of the family comes from Calabria and I think it would be most reasonable for ...

Finding birth/baptismal records

I have been researching birth records in Corleone within the San Martino parish data that are available on-line. The baptismal entries are listed in the index according to the first name of offspring and this works reasonably well when I already know the first names of their children and am looking ...

I have recently been told that some of the Sicilian immigrants to America changed the "i" at the end of their name to an "e" in order to help others recognize them ...
