Have you considered changing his name on his marriage and death certificates and your birth and marriage certificates. You would also need to correct his birth date on the marriage and death certificates.

Keep trying. The consulate will respond in its own good time. Neither you, nor anyone on these discussion boards can compell the consulate to do anything. (Think of the consulate as an Italian speaking office of motor vehicles!)

Since your father naturalized in 1984 in Federal Court in Chicago, Il you should look for his naturalization records in the federal court that he naturalized in. Since citizenship records are not treated as archival records the day they are created they will still be on file at the courthouse ...
