Re: Licata Agrigento

Hello all!
I also have family in Grotte (see below) and was wondering has anyone tried to request documents from there? I have been dying for my GGF birth certificate and have requested 4 times now: 2 by mail, 2 by email. Anyone else have a problem?

My Great-grandfather is Francesco Licata who is ...

Re: COURT ORDER OR LETTER FROM JUDGE?

Thank you SO MUCH for the information! I really appreciate the guidance!! What a feat this has turned into, but it will be so worth it. How long did it end up taking you from the point of your appointment to receiving your letter or approval?

Re: Hit a dead end- please save my spirits

Thanks Suanj! Well I guess that explains it! My, what a tragic decade Great Granddad had!
Marty, Thanks for the heads up. Since I am currently studying in the UK, I thought the Family History Library was only a luxury of home. But turns out there are quite a few here in England! I will call them to ...

Re: COURT ORDER OR LETTER FROM JUDGE?

Well I'm not sure what documents exactly...
The birth dates of my GGF's birth certificate (& potentially marriage certificate) from Italy is February 21, 1881. While his documents from the US: declaration of intent (therefore, his naturalisation papers) and death certificate say February 18,1881 ...

Re: Hit a dead end- please save my spirits

Thank you again Suanj!!

So strange. Its clear little Calogero died just two days after birth in 1906. But in Giuseppa's 1916 arrival manifest she claimed a Calogero Licata, age 9 (which he would've been at this point). I have no idea what to make of it... Especially considering my GM's only living ...

Re: COURT ORDER OR LETTER FROM JUDGE?

Hello I know this post is a bit old, but I am also running into the same problem, the consulate (philadelphia) told me I need a 'letter from the courts' which sounds ridiculously ambiguous to me. Can anyone help clarify how to go about these court orders/letter/affidavits?

Re: Hit a dead end- please save my spirits

Oh my goodness!! I cannot believe you found all this. Thank you so much!! I could hug you!

This is all definitely them. You even helped solve a family mystery!
My GM used to talk about a brother that passed away. But in my GGF Declaration of Intent he only mentioned 4 children, all of which lived ...

Hit a dead end- please save my spirits

Hello there

I've hit a dead end in locating my GGM. This would not be an issue considering I'm claiming through my GGF side, BUT apparently my GGP were married in her hometown. Hence both her birth certificate and the marriage certificate would be there.

Funniest thing is I can't find record of ...
